I gravitate toward rendering commonplace objects in ordered arrangements or spacious landscapes, and intimate florals - all painted in a representational style. While each painting represents a moment in time, they are also a reflection of my search for calmness and beauty in the ordinary. The process of painting allows me the time to study, analyze, and experience each subject as I consider the balance of life itself.

I prefer to work in oil as it offers rich color depth and allows for subtle variations in color and value. I appreciate the opportunity for creating light and shadows as well as the endless variety of color. In all my work, I lean heavily on color and composition to achieve a certain mood. It is my hope that the viewer relates to the quiet mood and finds some respite from the sensory overload of modern life.
